Overview
The Cyber Security Engineer supports the United States Secret Service (USSS) Aviation and Airspace Security Division's (ASD) mission is to develop, coordinate, and implement airspace security plans for the National Capital Region, as well as for sites visited by the President, Vice President, or other designated USSS protectees.
Responsibilities
· Support the USSS in embedding cybersecurity throughout the C-UAS system lifecycle by providing expert guidance, conducting verification activities, and ensuring alignment with USSS and DHS cybersecurity policies.
· Acting as a trusted advisor, that cybersecurity requirements are properly defined, implemented, and maintained across all system components.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document cybersecurity requirements in accordance with NIST SP 800-53, OMB Circular A-130, and DHS.
· Review system designs to identify gaps and recommend mitigations.
· Conduct quality assurance checks to verify implementation of required controls.
· Assist in tracking cybersecurity compliance using tools such as traceability matrices and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and support Security Authorization, Continuous Monitoring, and risk assessments under the NIST Risk Management Framework.
· Evaluate system availability, resilience, and security posture using data from deployments, operator feedback, and test events. Provide assessments with suggested fix or improvements to customer.
Qualifications
Required:
· Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security or related degree
· 10 years of related experience
· Knowledge of DHS policies, SELC best practices, and USSS directives to ensure that the C-UAS capability is secure, resilient, and fully mission-capable.
· Possess a thorough understanding and substantial experience in radio frequencies, sensor integration, and spectrum analysis
· Secret Clearance
Preferred:
· Academic background in RF, digital systems, or electronic warfare is preferred. ABET accreditation may be accepted as a substitute for professional experience
