Overview
The Electrical Engineer supports the United States Secret Service (USSS) Aviation and Airspace Security Division's (ASD) mission is to develop, coordinate, and implement airspace security plans for the National Capital Region, as well as for sites visited by the President, Vice President, or other designated USSS protectees
Responsibilities
· Support the Government in translating high level mission needs into measurable system performance objectives, operational concepts, and data-driven insights that directly inform capability development, integration, and employment. Electrical engineering efforts will serve as a critical bridge between operational requirements and technical solutions, ensuring that system capabilities are aligned with real world mission demands and contribute meaningfully to improved mission outcomes.
· Assess current and potential future systems performance, identify operational gaps, and recommend optimizations that enhance C-UAS effectiveness across a range of scenarios and environments.
· Develop and maintain operational documentation and reports such as Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), and mission threads that reflect realistic operational use cases and guide both system development and deployment strategies.
· Install systems in support of the USSS mission. Upon completion of installation and quality control processes, the contractor shall demonstrate the operability of all installed items.
· Provide training materials, user adoption guides, and on-site engineering support during deployments.
· Conduct mission level and system analyses to evaluate capability effectiveness, identify performance shortfalls, assess threat response timelines, and inform investment or integration decisions.
· Conduct technology surveys and comparative trade studies to identify, assess, and prioritize emerging hardware and software capabilities with potential to enhance the C-UAS mission. This includes evaluating performance, cost, maturity, interoperability, and alignment with USSS operational needs.
· Attend and support live and simulated T&E field tests, exercises, and demonstrations to evaluate operational readiness, validate performance against mission objectives, and collect data for iterative improvements. Provide report of technologies tested with details on performance, range, power, threat library, and deployment capabilities.
· Acquire representative drones, conduct controlled evaluations, and assess C-UAS performance against them.
· Implement mission focused analytics by processing telemetry, sensor feeds, and other operational data to quantify system effectiveness, detect performance anomalies, and support after action reviews, operational planning, and strategic decision making.
· Conduct close collaboration with Government stakeholders, operational users, and system developers to ensure alignment with USSS priorities and real-world mission requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
· Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, related engineering degree
· 10 years of related experience
· Possess a thorough understanding and substantial experience in radio frequencies, sensor integration, and spectrum analysis
· Knowledge of DHS policies, SELC best practices, and USSS directives to ensure that the C-UAS capability is secure, resilient, and fully mission-capable.
· Secret Clearance
Preferred:
· Academic background in RF, digital systems, or electronic warfare is preferred. ABET accreditation may be accepted as a substitute for professional experience
