Help
- You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Celestial Reference Frame Department, US Naval Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.
- You will program, setup, and operate Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment.
- You will perform maintenance to machining equipment.
- You will carry out the routine maintenance of the astronomical instruments located throughout the observatory grounds.
- You will support the engineering team's continued development and upgrade efforts.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a government issued passport.

- Experience operating manual shop equipment in accordance with standard shop safety practices
- Experience performing credit card purchases and maintaining purchasing documents
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems
- Experience performing maintenance of complex mechanical systems, which may require climbing to heights using ladders, cranes, and safety harnesses
- Experience designing one-of-a-kind fixtures or instrumentation using CAD systems
