ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Engineer to join our team at Fort Belvoir. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of technical architecture expertise and the ability to act as a strategic advisor to Army clients. You will design and implement scalable, secure cloud solutions within the Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) environment, ensuring all workloads meet rigorous Army standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Architectural Design: Design, develop, and implement resilient cloud solutions aligned with Army Standards, focusing on performance optimization and future scalability.
• Strategic Advisory: Act as a lead/advisor to Army stakeholders, ensuring successful integration of cloud solutions into existing IT infrastructure.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, specifications, and user manuals.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure all cloud environments strictly adhere to Army cybersecurity standards and best practices.
• Cost Optimization: Provide guidance to optimize cost-efficiency and mitigate potential budget overruns.
• Team Support: Collaborate with the team lead to implement best-of-breed technologies while proactively managing risks.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: Minimum 7 years in cloud computing, specifically covering cloud architecture, security, and data architectures.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AWS and building modern software stacks (containerization, IaC, load balancing, auto-scaling, and disaster recovery).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree highly desirable).
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS
• Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance is required.
• Required Certifications: AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
• Preferred Certifications: * CompTIA Security+, Cloud+, Cloud Systems Administrator
