As a C-17 Airworthiness Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the C-17 airplane programs, focusing on services and modernization efforts. Position Responsibilities:
- Airworthiness Assessment: Evaluate project plans for potential airworthiness impacts and assess project development and test artifacts for their relevance to airworthiness criteria.
- Requirements Development and Management: Develop, manage, and maintain airworthiness requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and customer needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external customers to ensure compliance with airworthiness criteria and collaborate with Design Engineers to produce necessary artifacts and data that meet regulatory standards.
- Compliance Packages: Create and submit comprehensive airworthiness compliance packages.
- Methodology Familiarity: Demonstrate familiarity with airworthiness methodologies and criteria, with a preference for MIL-STD 516C.
- Systems Engineering Application: Apply Systems Engineering principles, tools, and techniques to the design, technical documentation, testing, and certification of aircraft.
- Systems Thinking: Understand the broader context and interrelationships within the system, recognizing how changes in one area can impact others. Utilize systems thinking principles to enhance performance.
- Technical Knowledge: Possess knowledge of aircraft systems, components, and both loadable and non-loadable software.
- Data Analysis: Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data effectively; summarize findings and develop conclusions and recommendations based on relevant data sources.
- Verification and Validation: Understand verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes, including governing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Documentation: Assess and document test or analysis data to demonstrate compliance.
- Issue Resolution: Resolve cross-functional technical issues as they arise.
- Software Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 5+ years' working within a related engineering discipline (i.e., Payloads, Structures, Electrical, Cabin Systems, etc.)
- 3+ years' experience in a role requiring project/program management skills and good understanding of aircraft systems and modifications.
- Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Aircraft Interior commodity experience (Interior commodities are items such as overhead stowage bins, lavatories, galleys, seats, passenger service units, sidewalls, air grilles, seats, etc.)
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
- Experience in leading teams or projects
- Experience with Engineering, Modifications, Proposal development, and Contracts.
- Experience working in an aircraft modification environment or with Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
- Experience with 14 CFR Part 25 regulations
- Ability to travel domestically & international up to 10% of the time
