Program Overview
RIVA Solutions supports the National Guard Bureau (NGB) under the Staff Action Support Services (SASS) program, providing mission-critical administrative, editorial, and operational support to senior leadership. The NGB operates within a dynamic and evolving Department of Defense environment, supporting national defense, domestic operations, and coordination across federal and state partners.
Through the SASS program, RIVA delivers structured workflow management, correspondence control, research, and executive-level editorial services to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant communications across leadership channels. This work supports high-visibility stakeholders across the Department of Defense, including senior military leaders, federal agencies, state officials, and Congressional offices.
Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking an Editor/Researcher to provide comprehensive editorial, research, and publishing support to senior leadership within the National Guard Bureau.
This role requires strong writing, editing, research, and formatting expertise, along with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-visibility DoD environment. The ideal candidate will ensure integrity, clarity, and compliance of official correspondence, policy documents, and leadership communications while supporting executive workflow processes.
The selected candidate must be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable interfacing with senior military and civilian leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide editorial services including editing, proofreading, writing, research, indexing, copywriting, and factchecking
• Format and prepare official documents in accordance with Department of Defense and NGB correspondence standards
• Support development of policy documents, procedural manuals, memoranda of agreement/understanding, charters, awards, and executive communications
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of correspondence on behalf of the Office of the Chief and Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau and other senior leaders
• Provide editorial advice and recommendations to Action Officers and Workflow Managers
• Conduct research to support leadership communications and decision-making
• Assist with document mapping, archiving, records management, and library services
• Support publishing and document lifecycle management activities
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion due to the sensitivity of information handled
Minimum Qualifications
• Active DoD Secret clearance required
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Educational background in English, Journalism, Political Science, Library Science, Education, Communications, History, Public Policy, or related field
• Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, formatting, and research
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools
• Strong analytical and research capabilities
• Ability to brief or support senior leadership-level communications
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with electronic tasking systems
• Familiarity with National Guard Bureau and Department of Defense correspondence standards
• Knowledge of the functions and missions of the National Guard
• Prior experience supporting executive-level communications in a federal or military environment
Salary
$85,000 annually, based on experience
