Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineer to join a highly talented, motivated, and collaborative Performance Analysis team in Sunnyvale, California. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to both current and future launcher programs through the development and application of physics-based modeling and simulation software. Candidate will assist in the development of complex mathematical models, heat transfer, hydraulic, and structural (FEA) performance assessment models for missile launching systems. Models focus on non-linear structural dynamics, gas dynamics, hydrodynamics, kinematics, heat transfer, and fluid/ structure interaction; elements required to accurately predict launch and shock performance. Candidate will also perform test data analysis for missile launch and shock tests. Candidate must be able to formally document results (e.g. technical reports, publications, presentations) and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
This is a dual level requisition which can be filled as a Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineer or Principal Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineer

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Proficiency in at least one programming language (C/C++, Python, MATLAB or FORTRAN).
- Strong writing skills for technical documentation and communication.
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain security clearance.

- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline with minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in modeling and simulation, test data reduction, or statistical analysis; or a Master's degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline with 3 years of relevant industry experience in modeling and simulation, test data reduction, or statistical analysis; or a PHD in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline with no experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (C/C++, Python, MATLAB or FORTRAN).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD in Mechanical or Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering.
- Knowledge in physics-based modeling and software development.
- Expertise in statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification of large data sets.
- Knowledge in structural dynamics, fluid-structure interaction (FSI), conjugate heat transfer (CHT), multi-phase flows, or combustion processes.
- Experience with commercial CFD solvers such as CFD++, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or CFX.
- Test Data Reduction and Analysis.
- Active security clearance.
