We are seeking an experienced Senior PKI Security Infrastructure Engineer to provide enterprise-level consulting and advisory support for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and related security infrastructure services within a large Federal environment under the Enterprise Messaging, Collaboration, Authentication, and Office 365 (EMCAO) program. This role focuses on technical framework alignment, architectural guidance, optimization strategy, and integration oversight across PKI systems and certificate validation services. The Senior PKI Security Infrastructure Engineer serves as a subject matter consultant supporting systems engineering, design improvement, interoperability planning, testing validation, and infrastructure alignment for enterprise certificate and trust services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide consulting support for the architectural design and strategic direction of enterprise PKI environments.
• Advise on optimization and configuration standards for Certificate Authorities, Validation Authorities, and certificate lifecycle management processes.
• Provide subject matter expertise related to Linux-based PKI infrastructure, including OCSP Responders and CRL Distribution Points.
• Advise on integration and utilization of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) within PKI environments.
• Provide guidance on RedHat Certificate System configuration and optimization.
• Support interoperability and integration planning between PKI services and enterprise authentication platforms.
• Participate in technical reviews of certificate validation workflows and infrastructure enhancements.
• Provide advisory support for troubleshooting complex certificate issuance and validation issues escalated from operational teams.
• Contribute to technical framework development, configuration standards, and PKI governance documentation.
• Support scripting and automation strategy using C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, CGI, and Shell scripting as applicable to PKI system optimization.
• Support testing validation and design improvement initiatives impacting enterprise PKI infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• 5+ years of relevant IT experience supporting enterprise PKI and security infrastructure environments.
• Strong experience with enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) architecture and certificate lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting Linux-based PKI infrastructure components, including OCSP Responders and CRL Distribution Points.
• Experience advising on Hardware Security Module (HSM) integration and secure key storage.
• Experience supporting or advising on RedHat Certificate System environments.
• Strong understanding of certificate validation, trust chains, and authentication integration.
• Experience supporting scripting or automation related to PKI systems.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and technical advisory skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.
• Familiarity with enterprise security infrastructure governance frameworks.
• Relevant PKI, Linux, or cybersecurity certifications preferred.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
