The Network Engineer Sr. plays a critical part in supporting DOJ’s NOC, contributing to secure, modern, and resilient enterprise environments.

What You’ll Do
• Lead the planning, design, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise LAN, MAN, and WAN environments supporting DOJ operations
• Provide architectural guidance for complex network environments, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across enterprise and deployable tactical infrastructures
• Engineer, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco-based and Linux-based routing solutions in mission-critical environments
• Design and implement new network solutions based on evolving operational and security requirements
• Evaluate and recommend network hardware, software, and telecommunications technologies to support long-term mission needs
• Improve network performance and security posture through thoughtful architecture enhancements and hardening strategies
• Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, technical documentation, and architecture artifacts
• Serve as a senior technical lead for network and security platforms, guiding implementation and modernization efforts
• Support security audits, assessments, and compliance initiatives through secure design and configuration practices
• Collaborate with program leadership, engineers, analysts, and federal stakeholders to align network solutions with mission objectives
• Research, test, and validate new networking and security technologies before deployment
• Act as a Tier 4 escalation resource for complex routing, integration, and performance issues
• Plan, implement, test, and sustain secure network solutions across enterprise and field-based environments
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for SCI (polygraph may be required)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, engineering, and supporting enterprise network environments
• Demonstrated experience leading complex network integration efforts across LAN, MAN, and WAN architectures
• Strong expertise in Cisco IOS and/or NX-OS, including routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
• Hands-on experience supporting Cisco-based and Linux-based routing platforms
• Experience implementing secure network infrastructure in enterprise and field or tactical environments
• Proven ability to serve as a technical lead or mentor for junior engineers
• Experience supporting high-latency or bandwidth-constrained environments (e.g., satellite or cellular connectivity)
• Proficiency with VMware virtualization technologies
• Current industry certification such as CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or equivalent experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering
Hands-on experience with:
• Cisco routing and switching platforms in enterprise environments
• Network architecture design, documentation, and diagramming tools
• Cisco enterprise management tools (e.g., DNA Center)
• Secure configuration and hardening of network infrastructure
• Change management processes in regulated or federal environments
• Network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization tools
• Integration of encryption devices and secure communication technologies
• Collaboration with security teams to align network engineering with compliance and audit requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting FBI, DOJ, DoD, or other federal law enforcement networks
• Advanced Cisco certifications or security-focused credentials
• Background supporting deployable or expeditionary network environments
• Experience serving as a senior escalation point (Tier 3/Tier 4)
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills in mission-driven environments
