Description

We are seeking a collaborative and forward-looking analytic leader to serve as Section Supervisor for Multi-Mission, Multi-Domain Analysis section within the Advanced Mission Modeling and AI Group (JAM) of the National Security Analysis Department (NSAD). This section conducts integrated operational analyses of multiple forces operating simultaneously across domains in support of multiple missions and campaign objectives. The work emphasizes evaluating interactions, trade-offs, dependencies, and risks that arise when resources are contested or shared across missions.

The Section Supervisor leads a multidisciplinary team applying modeling and simulation and related analytic techniques at the mission, theater, and campaign levels to inform senior decision-makers. The role requires systems thinking, comfort with complexity, and the ability to translate analytic results into clear operational insight. Close collaboration across NSAD and with mission area partners across APL is essential to ensure analyses are coherent, defensible, and relevant.

The Section Supervisor will play a key role in advancing analytic approaches to multi-mission and multi-domain analysis and ensuring the team can execute the analyses.

As the Multi-Mission Multi-Domain Analysis Section Supervisor, you will...
  • Develop and retain a multidisciplinary team of analysts conducting analyses leveraging modeling and simulation and provide technical and managerial leadership to the team.
  • Ensure the timeliness and quality of the analysts' work-to include their approach, their interactions with colleagues, sponsors, and project team members, and their written and presentation products.
  • Frame and structure complex operational problems involving cross-domain interactions, shared resources, and competing objectives.
  • Mentor and coach section members; work with the analysts individually and collectively to further develop their skills and grow the capability and capacity of the section.
  • Lead adoption of new analytic methods, models, simulations, and AI-enabled tools, balancing innovation with analytic integrity and sponsor trust.
  • Serve as a technical contributor on selected efforts, leading by example in analytic rigor, integration, and communication.
  • Assist higher-level managers and mission area partners with strategic planning and the development of new business initiatives.
  • Conduct performance coaching throughout the year with section staff.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Have a Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as operations research, computer sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Have experience integrating multiple models, data sources, or analytic methods into coherent cross-domain assessments.
  • Have project leadership experience for an analysis team from formulation to completion of a direct task - this should include determination of analytical approach, team building, sponsor engagements and conveying analytical results.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Have demonstrated collaboration skills and sound judgment in complex, ambiguous analytic environments.
  • Are willing and able to travel to the Pentagon on an occasional basis.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant analytic or technical discipline.
  • Have prior supervisory experience or demonstrated experience leading or mentoring multidisciplinary analytic teams.
  • Have experience advancing data-driven or M&S-related analytic approaches
  • Have an active TS/SCI clearance.
