We are seeking a collaborative, innovative analytic leader to serve as Section Supervisor for the AI Analysis Systems and Tools Section within the Advanced Mission Modeling and AI Group (JAM) of the National Security Analysis Department (NSAD). This section focuses on developing and applying advanced AI techniques to create analysis tools that directly enable mission-focused national security analysis across the Laboratory.

The Section Supervisor will lead a team that sits at the intersection of AI development and analysis. This role requires a leader who can bridge technical AI expertise with mission and analytic needs, guiding the development of trusted AI-enabled tools that integrate seamlessly into broader analytic workflows.

The Section Supervisor will oversee and develop analysts that combine AI processes, tools and outputs with modeling, simulation, wargaming and other traditional analytic approaches to support sponsor needs, ensuring effective integration with department teams and enterprise needs.

As the AI Analysis Systems and Tools Section Supervisor, you will...
  • Develop, lead, and retain a multidisciplinary team applying AI and generative AI capabilities to analyses.
  • Advance an enterprise approach to the application of advanced AI development techniques to critical analytic challenges.
  • Translate analytic and mission problems into appropriate AI-assisted processes, tools, and workflows.
  • Ensure AI-enabled tools and workflows are technically and analytically sound, transparent, and appropriate for addressing sponsor and enterprise challenges.
  • Ensure the timeliness and quality of section deliverables, including technical rigor, collaboration with colleagues and sponsors, and written and briefing products.
  • Mentor and coach section members; work with the team members individually and collectively to further develop their skills and grow the capability and capacity of the section.
  • Serve as a technical contributor or project lead on selected efforts, leading by example in technical and analytic rigor, innovation, and communication.
  • Collaborate closely with other sections and groups to apply advanced AI processes and tools into sponsor and indirect work.
  • Assist higher-level managers and mission area partners with strategic planning, development of new analytic opportunities, and sponsor engagement.
  • Support staff and task planning, interviewing and hiring, and performance coaching throughout the year.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have experience developing or applying AI-enabled tools or workflows to analytic or mission-focused problems.
  • Have experience translating complex analytic challenges into AI-assisted processes or tools.
  • Have experience combining AI-enabled tools with modeling, simulation, wargaming or other techniques.
  • Have project leadership experience for an analysis team from formulation to completion of a direct task - this should include determination of analytical or technical approach, team building, sponsor engagements and conveying technical results.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Have demonstrated collaboration skills and sound judgment in complex, ambiguous analytic environments.
  • Are willing and able to travel to the Pentagon on an occasional basis.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
