Position Title: Application / Server Engineer
Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO
Description of Duties:
The Global Network Operations and Security Center (GNOSC) Mission Support Team (MST) Application / Server Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
The candidate will:
• Be responsible for assisting in facets of a continuous 24/7 Global Network Operations Center, communicate with the MDA GNOSC event team, the GNOSC Mission Support Team, and execute Server/Applications duties in direct support of MDA events, exercises and war games.
• Create, and respond to Remedy Incident Tickets, working with customers to resolve network communication issues.
• Execute network, system, and cloud systems monitoring/surveillance, environmental monitoring, incident management and MDA Cybersecurity.
• Support and service maintenance activities to include Change Management coordination during the assigned shift night time.
• Be responsible for all aspects of IT incident management and escalation, ensuring that incidents are effectively escalated, managed and resolved with full communication of status, plans, and actions provided to executive management and the Government customer.
• Perform administration of Linux and Windows environments to include troubleshooting, break fix activities, the patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews as required.
• Provide for the operations and maintenance for complex application systems. Support for a variety of software platforms in an Active Directory environment utilizing MS SQL Server 2016/2019 and Internet Information Service (IIS) 10 as well as other tools.
• Battle Rhythm monitoring of applications. Troubleshoot and resolve found application issues. Resolve software conflicts, install, configure, patch, update Windows Server 2016/2019 application software, troubleshoot and resolve client-server and web application issues.
• Install/configure IIS and web applications. Troubleshoot and resolve issues for other applications technologies to include RHEL, Apache, Tomcat, and others. Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for web servers and websites
• Manage COTS, GOTS, and other developed software applications.
• Coordinate with the GNOSC Watch Officers, Event Team and other GNOSC MST personnel on IT Incident Management requirements, to ensure proper site, service and application outages and/or degradations are effectively escalated, managed and resolved with full communication of status, plans, and actions by providing senior leadership and the Government customer the latest status through resolution.
• Coordinate the Mission Support Schedule to ensure all CIO assets directly support event requirements and to work in concert with operations personnel, ensuring assets are identified and scheduled.
• Provide post event recommendations such as “Lessons Learned” and “Hot Wash” inputs.
The successful candidate will be able to:
• Coordinate with the GNOSC Manager, GNOSC Mission Support Team Lead, and Watch Officers to meet service levels defined for the IT Services organization.
• Coordinate with Change Management and other key leadership to ensure pre-defined service levels for the IT Services organization are achieved and to also provide insight into the impacts of the event posture.
• Execute the job roles/responsibilities
• Provide guidance and lead troubleshooting in dynamic, time constrained scenarios to matrix staff, including network, systems, servers, and application engineers, in a geographically distributed enterprise.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and possess the ability to work with little supervision.
• Demonstrate proficiency in developing comprehensive and detailed documentation.
• Follow documented processes and procedures and provide feedback to update as necessary.
• Work well in team environment.
Basic Requirements:
• Must have 2 years of directly related experience
• Must have a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have experience in metrics-based IT Operations and Maintenance
