Piper Companies is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support a leading government-focused technology organization through hybrid work in Ft. Meade, MD. This role is ideal for an engineer experienced in Azure, CI/CD automation, and secure cloud delivery who enjoys partnering with technical teams to enhance reliability, improve deployment pipelines, and enforce high-quality engineering standards.
Responsibilities of the Cloud Engineer:
• Build, optimize, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Helm, and Nexus
• Strengthen DevSecOps practices by integrating security controls into cloud deployments and ensuring all deliverables align with user acceptance criteria
• Support Azure-based Kubernetes environments and contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Ansible and Terraform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, recommend industry best practices, and provide guidance on automation, tooling, and cloud security
Qualifications of the Cloud Engineer:
• 5+ years of DevSecOps experience, including hands-on work with CI/CD pipelines and modern automation frameworks
• 3+ years of experience with Azure and other cloud platforms, including Kubernetes in an Azure cloud environment
• Proficiency with application and operating system security, Infrastructure-as-Code, and tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Helm, and Nexus
• Experience working within Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) using Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
• Must be eligible to obtain/maintain Secret-level security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline
Compensation of the Cloud Engineer:
• Salary Range: $160,000 - $190,000 (based on experience)
