You build intuitive, high-performance applications - and you care just as much about secure architecture and clean APIs as you do about user experience. Join Team Thunder and engineer solutions that directly support national defense missions.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable back-end services using TypeScript and Node.js to power secure, mission-critical web applications
- Architect and implement GraphQL schemas, resolvers, and integrations to enable efficient and flexible data exchange
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and server-side components supporting high-availability, performance-driven environments
- Collaborate in Agile sprints with engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, well-tested features from concept through deployment
Required Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of professional software development experience
- Proven experience in back-end development using TypeScript and Node.js
- Strong understanding of GraphQL, including schema design, resolver development, and integrations
- Experience developing and maintaining REST APIs and applying server-side development principles
- Familiarity with modern web application architecture, including client-side vs. server-side processing and deployment pipelines
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Proficiency with Git for version control
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience operating within Agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with security best practices for server-side applications, including authentication mechanisms such as OAuth and JWT
- Experience implementing caching strategies using tools such as Redis or Memcached
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Vue
- Knowledge of testing frameworks and experience writing unit and integration tests for back-end services
