- You will perform the maintenance and repairs to antenna panels, ground system components and sea terminals.
- You will have knowledge of gas cutting and welding, exothermic welding, weight handling equipment including estimating safe working load.
- You will be computer literate-able to use standard computer programs such as Word, Access, Excell, etc.
- You will operate heavy-duty winch equipment, reeling devices. hoists, man-lifts and material and weight handling equipment.
- You will apply knowledge of proper knots, splices, and terminations of wire rope and fibrous ropes.
- You will demonstrate the proper use of band and power tools.
- You will apply basic knowledge of various electrical and electronic test instruments such as voltmeters, Amprobe and antenna test sets and use of conductor locating equipment.

- Experience directing the raising or lowering of an antenna panel and reading blueprints and work from sketches.
- Experience using hand tools, small power tools, power assist equipment, and motor vehicle equipment.
- Experience working assignments and making sound decisions after exhausting climbing on the VLF towers.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as drum hoists, category 4 cranes, bulldozers, backhoe, forklift and bucket truck. Must meet licensing requirements.
