We are seeking an experienced eDiscovery Specialist to support enterprise electronic discovery (eDiscovery) and data collection services within a large Federal Microsoft 365 environment under the Enterprise Messaging, Collaboration, Authentication, and Office 365 (EMCAO) program. This role supports complex litigation, investigative, and compliance-driven data requests across Microsoft 365 workloads. The eDiscovery Specialist performs mailbox extractions, case management, legal holds, defensible search and collection, review workflow support, export and reporting, encrypted content decryption, compliance documentation, and stakeholder coordination to ensure accurate, secure, and legally defensible discovery operations.

We are seeking an experienced eDiscovery Specialist to support enterprise electronic discovery (eDiscovery) and data collection services within a large Federal Microsoft 365 environment under the Enterprise Messaging, Collaboration, Authentication, and Office 365 (EMCAO) program. This role supports complex litigation, investigative, and compliance-driven data requests across Microsoft 365 workloads. The eDiscovery Specialist performs mailbox extractions, case management, legal holds, defensible search and collection, review workflow support, export and reporting, encrypted content decryption, compliance documentation, and stakeholder coordination to ensure accurate, secure, and legally defensible discovery operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform Microsoft 365 mailbox extractions and enterprise data collection activities in support of litigation, investigations, and regulatory requests across VA organizations.
- Manage Microsoft Purview eDiscovery cases, including custodian identification, legal hold implementation, and defensible search execution across Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Execute advanced content searches, keyword queries, and analytics to ensure accurate, relevant, and defensible discovery results.
- Support review workflows by provisioning secure review sets, applying tagging, redaction, and coding, and generating defensible exports aligned to EDRM standards.
- Maintain chain-of-custody documentation, reporting, and audit records to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
- Perform decryption of S/MIME and RMS-encrypted content while ensuring secure handling and restricted access controls.
- Manage DCS intake tickets, prioritize discovery requests, restore mailbox items, and coordinate data collection from OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Provide training and support to legal and compliance stakeholders and assist in development of policies, procedures, and process documentation.
- Leverage Microsoft Purview admin center and Windows PowerShell cmdlets to manage discovery operations and support continuous process improvement.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 5+ years of relevant IT experience supporting Microsoft 365 eDiscovery and enterprise data collection services.
- Strong experience using Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Standard and Premium).
- Experience performing mailbox extractions and keyword-based discovery searches.
- Experience implementing legal holds and preservation workflows.
- Experience supporting encrypted content handling (S/MIME, RMS).
- Strong understanding of defensible data handling, chain-of-custody, and regulatory compliance principles.
- Experience using PowerShell cmdlets for eDiscovery management.
- Strong documentation, analytical, and stakeholder communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.
- Familiarity with litigation support frameworks and EDRM standards.
- Microsoft 365 compliance or Purview certifications preferred but not required.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
