As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Intelligence Systems team, working on highly sensitive and impactful projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Design, develop, and rigorously test low-level bare-metal infrastructure code for advanced embedded systems. * Architect and implement software ecosystems for next-generation hardware platforms, optimizing for performance and reliability. * Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality of software and hardware components. * Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in real-time operating systems and embedded environments. * Develop and maintain documentation for software designs, architectures, and testing procedures. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes, tools, and methodologies. * Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards. * Research and evaluate new technologies and approaches to enhance embedded system capabilities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. * 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, with a strong focus on bare-metal programming. * Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems. * Demonstrated experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). * Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures and peripheral interfaces. * Experience with embedded debugging techniques and tools. * Must possess an active Secret clearance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field. * Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet). * Familiarity with hardware/software co-design and bring-up processes. * Experience in the defense or intelligence industry. * Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems. * Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. WORK ENVIRONMENT This is an onsite position located in Reston, VA, within a very fast-paced, startup-like environment that encourages significant autonomy. Collaboration is key, but individuals are expected to take initiative and drive their projects forward. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS the company offers a competitive salary range of $191,000-$253,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates. In addition to base salary, this role includes performance-based bonuses and stock options, providing a direct stake in the company's success.
