The Business Engineer will serve as the technical bridge between Business Development, Capture, and Engineering teams, supporting the growth of federal government accounts across DoD and civilian agencies. This role combines deep technical expertise in IT infrastructure with strong customer engagement skills to shape, position, and win complex government contracts. The Business Engineer must understand federal acquisition processes, secure environments and enterprise IT modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with capture managers, proposal teams, and customers to design compliant, mission-aligned infrastructure solutions
  • Partners with Business Development and Capture to qualify and shape opportunities
  • Designs scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions aligned with government requirements
  • Develops technical architectures for several types of IT environments:
    • Cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
    • Hybrid and on-prem data centers
    • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
    • Enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN)
    • Systems Integration
    • Zero Trust architectures
  • Translates customer mission requirements into technical solution frameworks
  • Leads technical discovery sessions with government stakeholders
  • Delivers technical briefings, whiteboards, and product demonstrations
  • Supports industry days, technical exchange meetings (TEMs), and customer site visits
  • Establishes credibility as a trusted technical advisor within secure federal environments
  • Author technical volumes, solution narratives, and architecture diagrams
  • Contribute to win themes, discriminators, and pricing strategies.
  • Support RFI/RFP responses, including:
    • Technical approach
    • Transition plans
    • Risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with pricing teams to ensure technical solutions are cost-realistic and competitive
  • Provide technical assessments of competitor capabilities
  • Identify differentiators aligned to agency priorities (e.g., Zero Trust, cloud migration, cyber resilience, etc.)
  • Stay current on federal modernization initiatives and emerging infrastructure technologies
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Networking, Cyber Security or other IT related field
  • Possess 10 or more years of experience in working for a IT Federal contractor that supports DoD
  • Will be required to travel (overnight) at a minimum 25% and could be up to 50 % travel depending on workload
  • Must possess an active and maintain a Secrret Clearance
  • Strong ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Prior hands-on experience working on and with an enterprise wide IT environment within the DoD
  • Clear communication skills both written and oral
  • Capability to multitask and handle competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated strategic approaches to entering markets
  • Approachable demeanor and strong motivation to go above and beyond
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions in the best interest of the company
  • Ability to be resourceful and solve problems quickly and at times work under pressure
  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ensures customers/clients are satisfied with the implementation of technical solutions to encourage repeat business
  • Invests time to understand client needs and building trust over multiple interactions
  • Ability to identify client needs and propose technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications/Education and Experience.
  • Establishes and maintains trusted relationships with DoD and Government decision-makers, industry partners, and integrators
