Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager of General Manufacturing 2, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in Palmdale, California and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

This leader will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and timely production of aircraft. This role involves managing a team of employees, implementing production schedules, ensuring quality standards are met, and optimizing production processes to minimize costs and maximize productivity. The Manager General Manufacturing 2 works closely with other departments to ensure that aircraft are produced to meet customer demand, delivered on time, and meet the company's financial goals. They are also responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and complying with relevant regulations and industry standards. Overall, the Manager General Manufacturing 2 plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the manufacturing and delivery process.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct and execute day-to-day operational objectives
  • Collaborate with production scheduling to meet schedule requirements
  • Must be able to provide clear, concise direction and coaching to front line leaders and other personnel in the work environment
  • Must be able to work well with others in a cross functional team, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and have thorough knowledge of the company procedures and policies
  • Provides leadership to ensure all affordability initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported
  • Serve as liaison with functional teams to ensure proper coordination of support and availability of required parts, tools, equipment or information
  • Perform root cause analysis for corrective actions on safety & quality incidents
  • Maintain department training and certification requirements
  • Talent development through the performance management process, including individual and team goal setting
  • Hold one on ones, performance reviews, and compensation conversations with non-exempt employees
  • Provide timecard management of non-exempt employees

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED and five years of manufacturing experience in aerospace, automotive, military, or related environment
  • Bachelor's Degree and four years of manufacturing experience in aerospace, automotive, military, or related environment also accepted
  • Must have two years of prior management experience
  • Experience working in a DoD contract environment
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required) as well as the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access
  • Candidates must be willing to work any scheduled, including Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (1st shift) or 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM (2nd shift)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Must have a good working knowledge of MES and SAP
  • Perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production, ground support equipment, material management, system test & evaluation, and knowledge of supporting a flight test environment
  • Facilitate and provide support and training to front line leaders and applicable direct reports in core skill areas while being the primary point of contact for executive leaders for problem resolution, and process improvement in the represented environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to effectively communicate and present presentations with various levels of leadership
  • Ability to obtain SAP

Primary Level Salary Range: $121,100.00 - $181,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
