Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer based in Rolling Meadows, IL.
In this role you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our sector-wide digital transformation, where we create, support and transition to production common software tools and visibility for the Operations team. One current effort this position will lead is our manufacturing team transition to a common Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software for the site. This will include training and documenting site how to perform site operations equivalent work in the new system as well as advocating for necessary changes. The selected candidates will perform in a work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings.

Primary Level Salary Range: $138,500.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, OR a Master's degree in a related STEM field with 6 or more years of relevant work experience, OR a Ph.D. in a related STEM field with 4 or more years of relevant work experience
- Experience translating user requests into software requirements, design, and regression test sets
- Experience with hardware and software integration
- Experience designing, implementing, and integrating tools
- Experience writing, testing, debugging and integrating software on various operating systems and platforms
- Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance
- Experience with configuration management
- Experience storing, managing, and collaborating on projects using GitHub
- Experience with scrum agile software Azure DevOps, Rally, Jira or equivalent
- Experience with coding C#/ASP.net
- Experience with structured query languages: developing queries, stored procedures, functions
- Experience with Python
- Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance
- U.S Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer:
- Experience developing software using MVVM Design Framework
- Experience developing software using WinForm Design Framework
- Experience with Modern Testing Frameworks or equivalent
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins, Azure DevOps or equivalent
- Experience with Tableau/PowerBI or equivalent.
- Experience with structured query language creating SSIS packages and/or agent jobs.
- Experience with ETL tools like Alteryx or equivalent.
- Experience with hosting and/or maintaining IIS Server
- Experience with JavaScript
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Experience with Jira/Confluence
- Experience with Visual Basic/Visual Basic for Applications
