The Network Engineer will work with the Department of the Navy to assist with the development of Unmanned Carrier Aviation (UCA) platforms, digital interoperability, and network design.

Description

Location: Hybrid- Office

Location Requirement:

• M-Th client site Naval Outlying Field (NOLF) Webster, St. Inigoes, MD

• Friday optional remote

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Configure Dedicated Unmanned Carrier Aviation (UCA) Mission Control System (UMCS) Development Environment (DUDE) networking system as needed (knowledge of switches, routers and domains).

• Supports implementation, configuration, installation, and testing of Unmanned Carrier Aviation ground and shipboard support communications equipment. Provides Cybersecurity efforts as part of Risk Management Framework (RMF) Continuous Monitoring for DUDE Lab Authorization to Operate (ATO). This includes system hardening and patching, performing Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIGs) on covered devices. Also, maintaining records and artifacts in the Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) and eMASS online systems, and accessing the DON Application and Database Management System (DADMS).

• Provide troubleshooting capabilities when necessary to ensure that the cyber team can continue to operate.

• Patch, STIG, and scan all networking devices in the DUDE ATO.

• Construct any networking diagrams relevant to illustrating the layers of communication between devices in the DUDE Lab.

• Harden any networking devices for projected implementation as requested by UCA personnel.

• Provide troubleshooting capabilities when necessary to ensure that the cyber team can continue to operate.

• Support the testing of the various equipment racks that are sent out for ship installs (Stage II testing, Stage III testing, SOVT, etc.).

• Develop documentation to describe how to perform the various testing procedures to certify an equipment rack as having passed inspection.

• Develop additional documentation related to other operational procedures required for equipment rack functionality (Ex. Develop coherent rack sanitization procedures).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification

• Must possess eligibility for US Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) before applying

• 1-3 years of professional experience in the defense industry (internships or co-op experiences also considered)

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in network engineering or a related technical discipline or four years additional work experience in a related field in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must be a US Citizen.

• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• You will be required to have eligibility for US Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) prior to beginning work. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) may be required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

• This position may require travel (10%) from normal place of work.
