The Cybersecurity Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) will serve as the cloud security lead responsible for ensuring DOD-compliant architecture and security posture of cloud-hosted systems; provides expert guidance to assessment teams for cloud-related CVA execution and risk reduction.

Essential Role and Responsibilities
- Ensure cloud-hosted IT systems are secure and meet DOD requirements; review cloud security policies and recommend improvements for protection, detection, monitoring, and response.
- Apply deep knowledge of cloud security engineering and threats to support program/application deployments and ensure compliance during deployment lifecycle.
- Guide assessment staff conducting Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessments in cloud hosting environments; ensure findings are technically accurate and actionable.
- Lead or materially contribute to cloud security assessments/audits/compliance reviews; map best-practice frameworks (e.g., CIS controls, NIST CSF, CSA CCM) to DLA realities.
Qualifications
Experience
- 7+ years securing/architecting complex IT systems, including 5+ years in cloud environments (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure).
- Experience working with enterprise DoD IT.
- Strong cloud security best-practices and standards knowledge.
Required Certifications
- Cloud certification (GCP/OCI/AWS/Azure, etc.).
Education
- Bachelor's in CS/IT/Cybersecurity/Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Cloud architecture training strongly preferred.
