Roles and Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and lifecycle management of complex systems in support of defense and mission-critical programs. Specific responsibilities include:
Systems Design and Modeling:
- Develop and maintain system models using SysML and UML architectures to represent system structure, behavior, and requirements
- Apply MBSE methodologies throughout the systems development lifecycle
- Create and maintain system architecture models that align with DoD frameworks and enterprise architectures
- Perform systems lifecycle modeling from concept development through deployment and sustainment
Requirements and Documentation:
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation including system specifications, interface control documents, and design descriptions
- Manage requirements using DOORS (or other requirements management tool) and ensure traceability across the system lifecycle
- Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate system requirements
- Support configuration management and change control processes
Integration and Collaboration:
- Work within DoD processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines
- Support system integration activities and verification/validation efforts
- Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and program milestones
Tools and Environment Management:
- Utilize Cameo Systems Modeler and/or MagicDraw for MBSE activities
- Manage models and collaborative engineering efforts using TeamWork Cloud
- Support PLM processes and product data management
- Track tasks and manage workflows using Azure DevOps and/or Jira
- Maintain documentation and collaboration via Microsoft Office and SharePoint platforms
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline (Master's Degree preferred)
- 5-7 years of professional engineering experience
- Proficiency with Cameo Systems Modeler and/or MagicDraw
- Hands-on experience developing SysML and UML architecture models
- Strong background in technical writing and documentation development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret DoD security clearance or ability to obtain clearance
- Experience with agile development methodologies in systems engineering contexts
- Knowledge of additional MBSE tools and frameworks
- Certification in systems engineering (CSEP, INCOSE, or similar)
- Experience with DoD programs or defense contractors
- Proven experience in systems lifecycle modeling across multiple project phases
- Working knowledge of DoD frameworks and architectures (e.g., DoDAF, MODAF, UAF)
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, procedures, and standards
- Experience with systems design methodologies and engineering processes
- Experience with TeamWork Cloud for collaborative model management
- Working knowledge of DOORS for requirements management
- Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems
- Competency with Azure DevOps and/or Jira for agile project management and task tracking
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Experience with SharePoint for document management and collaboration
