Junior Network Administrator

Location: Kearneysville, WV

Clearance: DoD Secret OR DHS EOD

Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:00 AM Thursday-Saturday and every other Wednesday

Summary:

The Junior Network Administrator provides intermediate-level technical support at the Information Technology Operations Center (ITOC), a 24/7 facility dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation and security of critical IT infrastructure. The Network Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing network systems to support continuous operations and mission-critical activities. This role requires expertise in network administration, troubleshooting, and security protocols, along with the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Shift:
  • Thursday through Saturday, Every other Wednesday
  • Nights 6:45PM-7:00AM

Clearance Required:
  • Must be a US citizen and pass a background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain an Entry On Duty (EOD) and maintain a Secret clearance

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the following areas: TCP/IP Protocols, VLAN Management, Routing and Switching (e.g., BGP, OSPF), Network Monitoring Tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds), Network Security Protocols, Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in systems and network administration
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (e.g., routers, switches).
  • Strong knowledge of network security protocols and best practices.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including availability for shift work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
  • Networking certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent (required) and a DoD IATII certification (CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP) or higher.
  • Experience working with enterprise networks and datacenters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the administration and maintenance of enterprise systems and networks under senior staff guidance
  • Provide Tier 2 troubleshooting and resolution of system and network incidents
  • Assist with system patching, updates, and configuration changes to maintain compliance and performance
  • Monitor system and network health, escalating issues that require senior-level intervention
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity staff to support secure system and network operations
  • Participate in modernization efforts such as virtualization, cloud adoption, and automation projects
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues
