Description
SAIC's Horizon program is seeking you, our next Chief Cloud Engineer to join the U.S. Space Force team delivering warfighter capability via the Space Systems Command's Space Combat Power portfolios working out of El Segundo, CA. You will be a part of the team responsible for developing and delivering cyber capabilities to Space Force cyber operators. If you have expertise and extensive experience designing and developing Service cloud environments (eg: Platform One / Warp Core / AWS / Azure / Unified Data Library / etc.) to load, format, analyze, and display large-volume data streams, arriving in a variety of formats this is the job for you.
The Horizon program is supporting Government weapon systems program offices with subject matter experts that have a background with the Department of Defense major capability acquisition process. Horizon team members provide systems acquisitions and program management support on various capability development programs that are intended to protect and defend the Nation's most valuable space assets. Our team is at the forefront of the advising and assisting the Government throughout the full lifecycle of systems acquisition processes that enable in most instances, rapid fielding to meet warfighter needs.

Fun stuff you will do on the job:
- Participate in software development efforts through all aspects of the software engineering life cycle including scope and work estimation, design, documentation, implementation, testing and integration
- Design, deploy, and operate various AWS cloud resources and cloud-native web applications
- Design connectivity solutions between cloud services provider and on-premise networks
- Apply analytical, automation, and coding skills in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Prepare design documentation (eg: technical diagrams and specifications)
- Assist multiple application teams creating full or partial cloud representations of lab hosted systems
- Collaborate with teams designing their cloud architecture to produce best practices and templates related to hosting and automation
- Design and develop new applications (COTS, custom, etc) and O&M tools and integrate them with existing hosted cloud environments to better meet mission design
- Assist in developing solutions to software architecture problems and broad design solutions
- Manage virtual and physical servers on a virtualization platforms on various operating systems (eg: Windows Server 2008-2016, Ubuntu, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)
- Ensure the security of the server infrastructure by implementing industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
- Use a proactive approach to anticipating, mitigating, identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting hardware and software issues on servers and workstations
Qualifications
This is you:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering and eighteen (18) years experience
- Ten (10) or more years in mesh architectures (eg: AWS / Platform One / Azure / C2S / etc)
- Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Vetting program (if applicable)
- Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and, or other compartments; and consent to a polygraph examination
- Cloud SysOps Administrator Certification
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform, Helm, Ansible, or similar
- Demonstrated proficiency coding and creating automation in Python, PHP or similar
- Proven background working in DevSecOps software development environments
Desired Skills and Certifications:
- Understanding of DOD Acquisition process
- SAFe Agilist
- Able to attain CSWF and IAT Level II Certifications (Security+)
- Demonstrated technical writing and briefing
- Understanding of hybrid cloud/local architectures
- Experience in modern source control (Git, BitBucket, etc.)
- Experience with Multi-Layer Security / Cross-Domain Solutions / NSA "Raise the Bar"
- Experience with Continuous-ATOs / Risk Management Framework / Program Protection Plans
- Experience with Kubernetes / Containers / Docker
- Experience with Zero Trust Models
