Position Overview

Liberty Alliance is seeking a highly experienced Mechatronics Engineer to support advanced government technology initiatives, robotics development, and mission-critical experimentation. This role blends strong foundational mechatronics engineering principles with real-world application in robotics, unmanned systems, sensing technologies, electronic warfare, edge computing, and rapid prototyping environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in electromechanical and robotic system design, integration, testing, and evaluation, while thriving in fast-paced, high-demand environments supporting sensitive programs. This engineer will independently manage technical priorities while collaborating across cross-functional teams to deliver operationally relevant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Electromechanical & Robotics System Design
• Design and develop integrated robotic and electromechanical systems, including actuators, motors, manipulators, sensor suites, and embedded controllers
• Support development of autonomous and semi-autonomous platforms for unmanned and mission-critical applications
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and 3D mechanical models for robotic subsystems
• Develop and implement motion control, feedback systems, and robotic control algorithms (PID, trajectory control, navigation support)
• Program and integrate microcontrollers, embedded processors, and edge computing devices

Systems Engineering & Platform Integration

• Apply systems engineering principles to manage technology development, integration, testing, and evaluation (T&E)
• Integrate robotic hardware and software components into larger unmanned and mission platforms
• Optimize microelectronic components and embedded devices for performance, reliability, and operational durability
• Support full lifecycle development from concept and prototype through experimentation and operational deployment

Experimentation, Testing & Performance Analysis

• Conduct experiments, simulations, and modeling to evaluate robotic and microelectronics system performance
• Perform integration testing, validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Analyze system reliability, functionality, and mission effectiveness
• Provide actionable technical recommendations to enhance platform integration and operational capability

Rapid Prototyping & Innovation

• Utilize rapid prototyping tools including 3D printing, advanced electronics tools, and iterative fabrication methods
• Support robotics experimentation and rapid capability development for mission needs
• Apply AI/ML techniques where appropriate to enhance autonomy, perception, and edge-based robotic decision-making
• Transition prototype robotic concepts into field-ready operational solutions

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Work effectively within cross-functional teams including engineers, operators, program managers, and mission stakeholders
• Independently manage technical priorities in high-tempo environments
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers when appropriate
• Communicate complex robotic and electromechanical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience (robotics, defense, automation, unmanned systems, or advanced technology development preferred)
• Ability to obtain or maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
• Demonstrated experience in:
