Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Project Manager to join a team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation Organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

Note: Due to the classified nature of the work being performed, this position does not offer any virtual or telecommute working options. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Creates and maintains master schedules for all lab resources. Uses resource leveling techniques to resolve conflicts and optimize utilization across concurrent streams. Conducts weekly capacity reviews and adjusts allocations in real time to meet critical milestones.
  • Maintains a repository for lab configurations and uses lab configuration repository to influence scheduling of lab resources across development teams.
  • Development of comprehensive project plans that include detailed timelines, resource allocation matrices, and multi-year budget forecasts.
  • Partners with engineering, procurement, and fabrication/manufacturing teams to align objectives, deliverables, and schedule commitments.
  • Conducts integration meetings to capture dependencies, resolve conflicts, and update the master schedule.
  • Defines clear project milestones and deliverable acceptance criteria. Performs critical-path analysis, identify high-impact risks, and develop contingency or mitigation plans. Maintains a live risk-register and drives corrective actions through the project team.
  • Facilitates regular status meetings (daily standups, weekly steering calls, monthly executive reviews). Produces concise progress reports, issue logs, and change-request summaries for all stakeholders.
  • Delivers financial forecasts and variance analyses to senior management on a scheduled basis.
  • Owns the project budget, track actual expenses against forecasts, and approve cost-saving initiatives. Proactively surface emerging issues, assess impact, and executes corrective-action plans, to update the schedule and budget accordingly.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 12 years of relevant experience with bachelor's degree OR 10 years of relevant experience with a master's degree OR 8 years of relevant experience with Ph.D.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Must have experience in Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and/or Power Point.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent PM tools.
  • Strong financial acumen - budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Data driven reporting (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate technical concepts for non technical audiences.


Primary Level Salary Range: $126,400.00 - $189,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
