Northrop Grumman Missions Systems has an opening for a Staff Electronics Engineer to join our Test Design Engineering team to help develop, enhance and maintain test hardware on cutting edge products and systems. Join a design community that offers unique design challenges and work closely with multiple engineering disciplines including Hardware, Firmware, Software, Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering, etc.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven problem solver. The candidate will support the entire product lifecycle development, from design & implementation through production test and debugging to ensure that product requirements are met. They will work closely with systems engineers, hardware design engineers, software engineers, and customers, troubleshooting and correcting root causes of various system level issues.
Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of hardware related products, hardware designs, and technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews, and other reviews, as required. The selected individual will actively participate in the technical peer reviews to ensure system/hardware requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. The selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required.

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Key Responsibilities:
- This position requires a highly experienced subject matter expert in the field of integrating complex RF, Power, and Digital Systems with Test Equipment
- The role will primarily focus on working with Design, Integration, and production teams to ensure successful integration of new hardware and software in a test environment to meet test requirements
- This position will lead a multidisciplinary team of test engineers that will be integrating and developing Production Test Solutions
- The role may include interfacing with external customer technical representatives, internal engineering associates and program management.
- This may include collaboration with design teams for requirements flow down, management, and verification, generating complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and team building skills are essential.
- Successful candidates are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, aerospace team environment while possessing technical proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to interface across the different engineering teams.
- This position will require close collaboration with team members of engineering teams as well as working with the program to meet the customers' needs.
- Must have the ability to develop, debug and review test code
- Able to generate, review & release engineering documentation such as Electrical Schematics, Wire Tabs, Test Specifications, Assembly Drawings and Interconnect Diagrams
Basic Qualifications Staff Electronics Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience, Master's degree in STEM with 10 years of experience, Ph.D. degree in STEM with 7 years of experience
- Must be US Citizen with an Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance
- Experience deriving test Hardware and software requirements, from specifications.
- Experience with design of electromechanical test fixture & software test solutions
- Experience providing manufacturing support during the hardware build process
- Experience with integration of test fixtures & software into a functioning test solution
- Experience with test equipment & software certification per customer requirements
- Experience with test system deployment and factory support
- The ability to read and interpret specifications, electrical schematics and block diagrams
- Mix of hardware and software design and development
- Experience in text-based programming (e.g. C, C++, C#)
- Background and working knowledge in RF theory and concepts
- Experience with test & measurement equipment
- Ability to work with minimal direction and guidance
- Hands-on troubleshooting of electronic hardware
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading hardware design or software design from requirements, through verification and validation and certification
- Experience with building schedules and estimating Engineering costs
- Hardware Test design and Test Software integration background
- Experience with LabWindows CVI, Visual Studio, C/C++ or C# Development
- Experience with Test Sequence Development
- Experience with modern software version control tools such as Git
- Experience with schematic design tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Zuken, etc.)
