GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Systems Administrator (SA) will be required to perform duties that include elevated privileges, such as managing active directory, troubleshooting user related issues, and installing hardware/software. As a trusted custodian to the Company's sensitive information and/or systems, the SA will be expected to maintain professional conduct and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of any information system to which they may have access.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Establish and maintain information systems IAW Department of Defense (DoD), Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), 32 CFR Part 117 National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), DoD 5200.01 Information Security Program and Protection of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and DoD 5205.07 Special Access Program (SAP) Security Manual. Responsibilities including but not limited to:
  • Responsible for network address assignment, routing protocols, and routing table configuration as well as configuration of authentication and authorization - directory services.
  • Performs maintenance of network servers: file servers, intrusion detection systems, routers, switches, etc.
  • Maintains the hardware and software that comprises the network (data, voice and video) including the deployment, maintenance and monitoring of active network gear, switches, routers, firewalls, and appliances.
  • Performs anti-virus definitions updates, and patch management.
  • Manages active directory, group policy, files shares, backups and restores, etc.
  • Perform system administration duties to include troubleshooting of information system errors.
  • Working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures to restrict unauthorized use of data systems and databases.
  • Ensure users have need-to-know for the data they are accessing.
  • Installs new and existing hardware/software.
  • Manages disaster recovery functions for information systems.
  • Support, maintain and administer third party applications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware on a routine and scheduled basis.
  • Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
  • Enforce change management and compliance processes.
  • Work as a technical resource on assigned projects performing independent analysis, communication, and problem solving.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

System Administrator I
  • May be assigned responsibility for simple projects.
  • Provides Tier 2/3 Support for system services and support.

System Administrator II
  • May be assigned responsibility for more complex projects, that may include supporting, managing, and administering contracts for 1) technology spending on services and products and 2) software and application services across the organization. This includes overseeing the execution of requests for proposals or quotes (RFPs and/or RFQs). Defines and facilitates communication between the enterprise and its providers in order to deliver products and services according to plan and within budget.
  • Mentors level I Network Administrators.
  • Troubleshoots more complex network and technical issues.
  • Acts as primary organizational interface with vendors and provides internal analysis and support.

System Administrator III
  • May be assigned responsibility for highly complex projects that affect multiple systems, involve several suppliers/teaming partners, and require frequent customer interface.
  • Employee "customarily and regularly" exercises discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties as to matters significant to KUAS.
  • Performs their job only under general supervision and works along specialized or technical lines requiring special training, experience, or knowledge.
  • Reports project status periodically (actual budget/schedule vs. proposed budget/schedule).
  • Reports progress in meeting customer requirements periodically.
  • Mentors level I-II System Administrators.
  • Provides direction and oversight, both technically and programmatically, to System Administrators.
  • Carries a cell phone 24/7 and responds to emergencies.

$80,000 - $120,000

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Each successive level of System Administrator builds on the identified typical qualifications listed for the previous level(s) Network Administrator.

System Administrator I
  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level I (A+, Net+, Security + or higher).
  • Requires BS/BA degree in a related technical field and 3-5 years directly related experience.
  • Directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and follow through with assignments to full completion.
  • Working knowledge with vulnerability and compliance scanning tools (SCAP, WASSP, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, network switching, routing and infrastructure cabling. Must be able to configure switches by using work instruction for Isolated LANs and WANs.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Cisco IOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL/Oracle Databases.
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of network drawings and schematics.
  • Assist senior SAs imaging assets for deployment to the field.
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST and/or JSIG requirements.
  • DoD security clearance at the same level as the facility or with the ability to up-scope.

System Administrator II
  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II (GSEC, CCNA, SCNP, Security + or higher).
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Computer Science or related field with minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to read and understand network drawings.
  • Can perform troubleshooting subsystems and system level tests independently.
  • Strong experience with hardening Linux 10, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2, and Server 2016 operating systems.

System Administrator III
  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II (GSEC, CCNA, SCNP, Security + or higher).
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Computer Science or related field with minimum of 8 years' experience.
  • Directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to read and understand and create network drawings.
  • Train and mentor other System Administrators.
    • Subject Matter Expert for RMF, NIST and/or JSIG requirements.
    • Load COMSEC Keys.
    • Subject Mater Expert of TCP/IP, network switching, routing and infrastructure cabling, switches, for Isolated LANs and WANs.
    • Consistently performs at or above established standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.
  • Some lifting and carrying of computer hardware, including monitors, not over 50 pounds, sometimes up or down stairs.
  • Some bending or crouching may be necessary when connecting power and data cables. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard/mouse, operate office equipment and read information.
  • May work extended hours or weekends and have on-call schedule/duties.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

25-50% - May be required between customer site and/or other KUAS locations.
