We have an opportunity for a Senior Account with our premier client in Mclean, VA. They are a highly respected Federal Integrator with Product and Service offerings.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with approximately 10 years of progressive accounting experience to support a growing organization that delivers both product-based and professional services offerings. This role requires a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, and cost accounting, with a solid understanding of federal/GovCon accounting practices. Experience with Unanet is highly preferred; Deltek Costpoint or similar systems are also acceptable.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically strong, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment that blends commercial and government-contracted work.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Support revenue recognition for both product sales and services contracts (including time & materials, fixed price, and cost-plus arrangements)
Track and analyze project costs, labor, and indirect rates, ensuring accurate cost allocation
Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports
Support federal/GovCon accounting requirements, including FAR-compliant cost tracking and indirect rate structures
Assist with audits (financial, DCAA, or other government-related audits as applicable)
Maintain and optimize accounting processes within Unanet or Deltek Costpoint, including project setup, billing, and reporting
Collaborate with program managers, finance leadership, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting
Support process improvements, internal controls, and documentation initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Approximately 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a mixed product and services environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
Experience with Unanet strongly preferred; Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems acceptable
Advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
Proven experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Highly Desirable Qualifications
Experience supporting federal government contracts or GovCon organizations
Experience with SaaS/Software/ARR
Familiarity with FAR, cost accounting standards, indirect rates, and project-based accounting
Experience with product revenue recognition alongside professional services billing
CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred, not required)
Experience working in growing or evolving organizations
