Job Overview

The Shop Floor Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily manufacturing activities on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. This role provides direct supervision to production staff, manages workflow, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet production goals and delivery schedules.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the shop floor, ensuring adherence to production schedules and safety protocols.
  • Provide leadership and direction to production personnel, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and conducting daily team huddles.
  • Ensure quality standards are met by overseeing inspections, addressing non-conformances, and enforcing compliance with work instructions and SOPs.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including throughput, downtime, scrap, and efficiency metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing practices to drive productivity and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve production issues and maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Train, coach, and mentor production employees to promote skills development and team engagement.
  • Manage attendance, timekeeping, and performance documentation in collaboration with HR.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.
  • Embodies AEVEX's cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, build packages, wiring diagrams, and acceptance testing procedures.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, shop floor equipment, and safety practices.
  • Effective communicator capable of leading teams and interfacing across engineering, quality, and logistics discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple production activities accompanied by excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic production reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

Education / Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field is a plus.
  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications (preferred).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing training (preferred).

Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
