This role is based in Evendale, Ohioand supports the Edison Works / Military Systems - Special Programsbusiness. Edison Works is responsible for some of GE Aerospace's most advanced and highly classified programs, delivering next generation propulsion and related technologies for U.S. Government and Intelligence Community customers.

You will lead security for a highly complex Next Generation classified program, partnering closely with Program Management, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, Quality, and U.S. Government customers to ensure secure, compliant, and mission-ready execution across development, test, and operations.
Role Overview

The Senior Security Manager, Next Generation Programsleads Advanced Programs Securityfor a highly complex, next generation classified program within the Edison Works business. Serving as the primary Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO), you are accountable for all aspects of program security across personnel, facilities, information systems, and operations security.

You will integrate and oversee cross-functional security disciplines, including Industrial Security, SAP/SAR, SCI (as applicable), Physical/Technical Security, Cybersecurity, Insider Threat, OPSEC, and Export/ITAR, to ensure compliance, mission readiness, and competitive advantage. In this role you will partner with government security counterparts and executive stakeholders to shape security strategy, mitigate risk, and enable secure, agile program execution in a fast-paced development and test environment.
Key Responsibilities

Program Security Leadership (Primary CSSO)
  • Serve as the primary CSSOfor Next Generation programs, providing authoritative guidance on NISPOM/32 CFR Part 117, DoDM 5205.07 series, ICDs, and customer-specific security requirements.
  • Define and own the end-to-end security architecture and governancefor assigned programs, aligning security with program milestones, customer deliverables, and risk posture.
  • Establish and lead program Security Working Groups; brief senior leadership and government customers on security posture, risks, and mitigations.

Personnel Security (PERSEC)
  • Oversee clearance processing, eligibility determinations, visit authorizations, and need-to-know validation; manage JPAS/DISSand associated personnel security systems.
  • Implement continuous evaluation/continuous vetting practices; lead insider threat awareness and referral processes in partnership with the Facility Security Officer (FSO)and Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO).

Facility and Physical Security
  • Lead accreditation, construction, and maintenance of secure areas (SAPFs/SCIFs, as applicable) in accordance with ICD 705and sponsor guidelines.
  • Manage access control, badging, intrusion detection systems, TEMPEST/technical security controls (as required), and maintenance of Fixed Facility Checklists.

Information Systems and Cybersecurity
  • Partner with ISSM/ISSOto ensure classified information systems comply with RMF, NIST SP 800-53controls, JSIG, and customer ATO requirements.
  • Oversee media control, data transfer, audit, and incident response for classified networks; ensure configuration management and vulnerability remediation align with program timelines.

Information/Operations Security
  • Develop and enforce Program Security Guides (PSGs), SOPs, and OPSECplans; conduct Critical Program Information (CPI)identification and protection planning.
  • Lead derivative classification, marking, and safeguarding practices; perform self-inspections and drive corrective action plans.

Incident Management and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and closure for security incidents, spillage, and adverse information per contractual and regulatory timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement through metrics, root cause analysis, and preventive actions that enhance security effectiveness while supporting delivery and innovation.

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the primary security interface with Department of Defense/Intelligence Community security offices, Program Managers, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, and Quality.
  • Support proposals, DD254development/flow-downs, subcontractor oversight, and security inputs to Statements of Work and Integrated Master Schedules.

Training and Governance
  • Develop and deliver targeted security training and awareness for program personnel and suppliers; maintain training records and compliance evidence.
  • Prepare for and lead government assessments, Management Reviews, and internal audits; maintain authoritative, audit-ready documentation.

Supplier and Subcontractor Security
  • Assess and monitor subcontractor security compliance, including DD254 execution, secure communications, and classified visit control.
  • Coordinate classified shipments, secure logistics, and international considerations (e.g., export control/ITAR/EAR, foreign travel and contacts).

Strategic Risk and Competitive Differentiation
  • Anticipate emerging threats and policy changes; advise program leadership on security-driven schedule, cost, and technical trade-offs.
  • Implement risk-based, scalable controlsthat protect critical technology while enabling rapid development and test, positioning security as a strategic enabler and competitive differentiator.
Required Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
      OR
    • High school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of progressively responsible security experience supporting U.S. Government classified programs.
    • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Security Experience
    • Minimum 10 yearsin Industrial/Special Programs Security, with at least 3 yearsserving as a CSSO, CPSO, or equivalent lead roleon complex SAP/SCI programs.
  • Technical and Regulatory Expertise
    • Expert knowledge of NISPOM/32 CFR Part 117, DoDM 5205.07 Volumes, ICDs, JSIG/RMF, and sponsor-specific directives.
    • Demonstrated success leading secure facility accreditationsand classified information system authorizations.
  • Clearance
    • Active/current final DoD Top Secret clearancewith ability to obtain and maintain SCI and SAP accessas required by the program.

  • Professional Credentials and Tools
    • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., ISP, SAPPC, SPeD, CISSP, SEC+).
    • Experience with DISS, NISS, eMASS, and other classified network and accreditation tools
