Job Summary
The Software Architect - SME Level provides senior enterprise‑level technical leadership for the Army National Guard (ARNG) Enterprise Applications Support mission. This role directs all Task operations, serving as the primary interface with Government leadership, and ensures the design and implementation of secure, scalable platform, application, and data analytics solutions. The architect develops IT rules, standards, and requirements defining baseline and target architectures and oversees cross‑cutting technical issues that impact ARNG's enterprise environment. This position requires a highly experienced technical leader capable of guiding complex modernization efforts, ensuring architectural integrity, and supporting agency‑wide mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct all Task Enterprise Applications Support operations.
- Serve as the primary Government interface, providing senior‑level technical and programmatic leadership.
- Architect secure, scalable enterprise platforms, applications, and data analytics solutions for ARNG.
- Develop IT rules, standards, and requirements defining baseline and target-state architectures.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve cross‑cutting technical issues affecting the enterprise portfolio.
- Provide status reporting, risk updates, and technical assessments to the TPOC and AAS COR.
- Ensure architectural alignment with DoD, Army, NETCOM, and ARNG standards and cybersecurity policies.
- Guide engineering teams and ensure enterprise‑wide technical consistency across solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.).
- Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise information technology.
- Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, application modernization, and large‑scale system design.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage multi‑disciplinary engineering workstreams.
- Strong understanding of secure application design, data analytics platforms, and cloud architectures.
- Experience defining enterprise IT rules, standards, requirements, and target architectures.
- Ability to coordinate across organizational stakeholders and provide executive‑level technical briefings.
- Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
- Required Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect and CompTIA Security+.
Preferred Qualifications
- TOGAF certification or experience with enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Azure Solutions Architect certification.
- Knowledge of cloud adoption, hybrid environments, and enterprise modernization best practices.
- Experience addressing cross‑domain, cross‑system dependencies and technical constraints.
