This role leads the Enterprise Architecture Sub‑Team, ensuring architectural consistency, compliance, and alignment across the ARNG's application portfolio. The architect provides oversight of system designs, reviews architecture-related documentation, coordinates cross‑domain decisions, and reports architectural health and risks to the Task Lead. This position serves as a key technical authority responsible for guiding modernization initiatives, promoting architectural standards, and enabling an integrated, secure, scalable enterprise environment.

This position serves as a key technical authority responsible for guiding modernization initiatives, promoting architectural standards, and enabling an integrated, secure, scalable enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Enterprise Architecture Sub‑Team supporting ARNG enterprise initiatives.
- Provide architecture governance across the entire application portfolio to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Review System Design Documents (SDDs) and Configuration Management (CM) artifacts for architectural alignment.
- Coordinate cross‑domain architecture decisions to maintain interoperability and avoid conflicting solutions.
- Report architectural health, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to the Task Lead.
- Ensure enterprise solutions align with DoD, Army, NETCOM, and ARNG architecture standards and cybersecurity policies.
- Support strategic planning, roadmapping, and modernization efforts requiring architectural oversight.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of progressively responsible enterprise IT experience, including architecture leadership.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, governance practices, and system‑of‑systems integration.
- Experience reviewing technical artifacts such as SDDs, CM documentation, interface specifications, and solution designs.
- Ability to coordinate enterprise‑wide architectural decisions across multiple functional and technical domains.
- Expertise in cloud architectures, modern application frameworks, and secure design principles.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills for conveying technical impacts and architectural findings.
- Required Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, CompTIA Security+.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Solutions Architect certification.
- Experience supporting DoD, Army, NETCOM, or ARNG enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of hybrid‑cloud integration, modernization roadmaps, and digital transformation strategy.
- Experience with architecture review boards, governance processes, and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to identify cross‑cutting issues and recommend enterprise‑aligned architectural solutions.
