The Senior Software Architect serves as the technical lead for designing, developing, and governing the Army National Guard's (ARNG) enterprise Information Exchange (IE) architecture. This role supports the ENOCS-as-Code vision by delivering secure, standardized, and automated data exchange solutions across internal ARNG systems, external mission partners, enterprise hosting environments, and cloud platforms.
The architect is responsible for ensuring that integration mechanisms are resilient, scalable, secure, and aligned with evolving software, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture requirements. This position plays a strategic role in modernizing ARNG's enterprise environment and supporting mission-critical operations across a globally distributed network.

The architect is responsible for ensuring that integration mechanisms are resilient, scalable, secure, and aligned with evolving software, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture requirements. This position plays a strategic role in modernizing ARNG's enterprise environment and supporting mission-critical operations across a globally distributed network.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document the enterprise Information Exchange (IE) architecture for inbound and outbound system connections.
- Develop automated, standardized IE solutions aligned with ENOCS‑as‑Code principles.
- Create architectural specifications, interface definitions, and system design documents.
- Define integration patterns for internal ARNG systems, external partners, hosting providers, and cloud platforms.
- Develop secure, reliable, and reusable technical solutions for data exchange.
- Establish and maintain IE technical standards and ensure alignment with enterprise requirements.
- Produce and update IE documentation, including ICDs, schemas, and data flow diagrams.
- Ensure all IE solutions comply with DoD, Army, NETCOM, and ARNG technical and security standards.
- Coordinate architectural alignment with hosting providers and infrastructure teams.
- Collaborate with software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud, and network teams to support end‑to‑end integration.
- Provide expert guidance throughout the lifecycle of IE capabilities-from design through sustainment.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, IT, etc.).
- Minimum 8 years of progressive enterprise IT experience, preferably within complex or distributed environments.
- Strong expertise in enterprise integration patterns, interface design, APIs, and secure data exchanges.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications, architectural artifacts, and integration standards.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks, secure coding, and compliance requirements.
- Hands‑on experience architecting solutions in AWS environments.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Required certifications: AWS Solutions Architect & CompTIA Security+.
- TOGAF certification or experience with enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Experience working with DoD networks, ARNG, NETCOM, or DoDIN-A environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code principles and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with cloud-native integrations, microservices, and container platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity operations and defensive cyber practices.
