Provides architectural engineering support for DDSB services by translating mission needs into secure, supportable technical designs. This role ensures modernization and sustainment work remains aligned to DHA standards, integration constraints, and operational realities.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
    • Develop architectural and technical designs for IT infrastructure systems solutions that meet or exceed identified functional and technical requirements and support MHS (Military Health System)/DHA enterprise architectures.
    • Create architectural guidance, strategies, and solution designs to address enterprise hardware, software, and IT service consumption challenges.
    • Validate technical requirements against functional requirements captured in Requirements Worksheets and manage technical requirement artifacts through the service design and engineering lifecycle.
    • Perform technical architecture activities to ensure interoperability of systems, resources, and technologies and ensure engineering documentation integrates into the DHA Enterprise Architecture.
    • Participate in Initial Request Analysis Meetings and Request Analysis Meetings through the CRRT process to support project funding, requirements validation, and timeline development.
    • Receive and analyze Requirements Worksheet packages, develop and validate functional requirements, initiate feasibility assessments, and assign business analyst resources as required.
    • Review incoming project configuration and architecture documentation and verify that proposed solutions meet approved functional and technical requirements.
    • Facilitate technical options analysis and assemble technical requirements teams, including engineering SMEs
    • IA representatives, to develop complete technical requirements documentation and remediate process gaps.
    • Leverage governance inputs, SME consultation, and technical expertise to develop detailed technical requirements that support effective solution engineering.
    • Develop Test and Evaluation Strategies defining technical, operational, and programmatic criteria to ensure requirements are testable and measurable.
    • Review and recommend approval, modification, or disapproval of engineering documentation; manage refinement of technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle; and provide acquisition-related technical input.
    • Design and deliver DoD Architecture Framework artifacts to support integration of approved designs into production environments and provide field re-architecting as needed and collaborate with external agencies and industry partners.


Education & Experience
    • Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline or equivalent practical experience (as permitted by the contract).
    • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise IT environments, with demonstrated work aligned to IT Architectural Engineering Services.


Certifications
    • At least one: CISSO, GCIA, GCSA, GCLD, GICSP, CISSP-ISSAP, or CISSP-ISSEP.
    • Alternate/equivalent certifications may be accepted with Government approval.
    • Preferred/Work-center dependent: Microsoft Certified: Cyber Security Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.


Security Clearance
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust suitability and all required system access (e.g., CAC-enabled accounts) to perform duties.


Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)
    • Work is primarily on-site in San Antonio, TX; limited remote work may be allowed when authorized by the Government and mission requirements permit. Work may require after-hours, weekend, and/or on-call support as directed, including support during scheduled maintenance windows, high-impact incidents, vulnerability response actions, inspections, and surge periods. This position is aligned to applicable DoD Manual 8140.03 work role 651 (NIST: SP-ARC-001); contractor personnel must meet DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements and transition to DoD Manual 8140.03 work role requirements, including required training, knowledge, skills, abilities, and tasks, within Government-directed timelines.
