MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented AWS Kubernetes Engineer to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a remote position.
The AWS Kubernetes Engineer will be supporting an ambitious endeavor to reimagine how our customer, Naval Sea Systems, provides AWS cloud services to its customers. This includes deploying Kubernetes clusters and services in a modern, fully automated manner.

The AWS Kubernetes Engineer will be supporting an ambitious endeavor to reimagine how our customer, Naval Sea Systems, provides AWS cloud services to its customers. This includes deploying Kubernetes clusters and services in a modern, fully automated manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and implement production-grade Amazon EKS clusters across multi-region environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu)
- Implement Zero Trust networking using Service Meshes (Istio/Linkerd) and enforce compliance via Policy-as-Code tools
- Serve as the final point of escalation for complex production outages
- Mentor engineering colleagues on Kubernetes operations and principles
- Create, maintain, and update relevant system documentation as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field; OR High School Diploma and 16+ years of relevant IT/cloud engineering experience
- 12+ years of experience in cloud engineering and/or Kubernetes
- Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) certification within 6 months of hire
- Experience with Amazon EKS, VPC networking (including Transit Gateways and PrivateLink), IAM, and AWS Security Hub
- Experience with Kubernetes architecture and components, including the control plane, etcd management, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and Operators
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess at least one CNCF Kubernetes certification (e.g., CKA, CKS, or CKAD)
- Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certification
- Proficiency in Go or Python for developing custom Kubernetes controllers and automation scripts
- Experience with Kubernetes multi-cluster management tools, such as Rancher
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have an active Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, and other work areas.
- Frequently communicates with coworkers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these interactions.
