Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Flight Test Director to join our growing team to support our operations in Bedford, MA.
Candidate will be responsible for work in a multitasking, quick-paced, dynamic environment supporting an agile, innovative, multi-disciplinary team developing novel system and technology concepts that address the nation's critical security challenges.
MTSI leads the way in providing critical flight test support to a wide range of DoW customers. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the testing of a novel UAS system from concept through operational prototype. The candidate will lead the testing of UAS and other aircraft systems from a prototyping phase up to completion. Responsibilities include organizing flight tests, defining test strategies to include lab, wind tunnel, and open-air test campaigns, coordinating teams of engineers and specialists, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additional responsibilities include customer presentations and demonstrations, and team/project management.
Responsibilities may include:
• Developing flight test strategies for a novel UAS program
• Producing flight test plans to guide the execution of a concept to operational prototype flight test program
• Coordinate and lead a team of multiple engineers through flight tests in the local Bedford, MA area, as well as at DoW test facilities and ranges across CONUS.
• Acting as the key liaison between the test team and DoW test personnel, as well as being the subject matter expert on DoW test practices and operations.
Required Skills:
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in aircraft or UAS flight test (with experience on DoW ranges)
• Previous work experience as a test director for aircraft systems, with extensive knowledge on defining test strategies and organizing flight tests
• Hands on experience designing, prototyping, and flight-testing air vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Detail-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality of work, and the ability to flex to rapidly changing information and requirements
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of science in engineering, STEM, a technical field or equivalent required. Masters degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Travel Requirements:
Routine travel is expected. Candidates should anticipate one week per month. Non-traditional work hours may be required. Expectation is that work will be performed onsite, with the potential to work hybrid 1-2 days per week depending on duties and program phase.
Clearance Requirements:
Current Secret (S) Security Clearance required, Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain access to Special Access Required (SAR) Programs desired.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
