MTSI is seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist to support mission-critical operations at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV and contribute to a high-priority defense program. This role blends technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to ensure the successful planning, testing, and optimization of aircraft maintenance procedures, facilities, and suitability testing.
The specialist will be integral to verifying operational safety standards, reviewing and refining technical documentation, supporting military construction (MILCON) projects, and delivering expert guidance to diverse teams across military, civilian, and contractor personnel. The specialist will be integral to verifying operational safety standards, reviewing and refining technical documentation, supporting military construction (MILCON) projects, and delivering expert guidance to diverse teams across military, civilian, and contractor personnel. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the readiness and safety of cutting-edge aircraft systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for planning, executing, and documenting ground and flight tests to verify the suitability and safety of new and modified aircraft systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for MILCON projects by guiding the planning, design review, and execution of maintenance and support facilities, ensuring compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
- Develop, review, and refine aircraft maintenance procedures, technical orders (TOs), and job guides to enhance efficiency and ensure best practices are adhered to.
- Deliver technical guidance to maintenance teams and engineers, participate in quality assurance activities, and ensure maintenance documents align with operational standards.
- Foster collaboration with military personnel, government civilians, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of projects and mission success.
- Support fleet readiness by actively participating in mission-focused initiatives and recommending improvements based on testing data and operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Certified Project Officer required.
- Lean Six Sigma Manager I certification desired.
- Deep familiarity with aircraft maintenance practices, technical specifications, and military construction standards.
- Proven experience developing, reviewing, and refining maintenance documentation, including technical orders and job guides.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while collaborating across interdisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.
- Strong analytical skills to assess suitability test results and recommend improvements.
- Effective communication and leadership skills for guiding and working with diverse personnel.
Education
- Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience, or
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or
- Associate's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant technical field.
Security Clearance:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility is required to support mission-critical operations.
Travel Requirements
- Up to twice per quarter (CONUS, HI, and AK locations possible).
