The TEKsystems Team supports the United States Navy in their goal of providing reliable and secure information services to their shore-based networks. AT&T has an opening for Communications Network Engineer, Mid to support the NGEN Team, in providing IT Services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable engineer in the field of Ethernet and IP data engineering with 4 plus years’ experience as a Network Technician.
- Position requires a high level of project coordination skills to manage the execution of maintenance activities and network outages.
- Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model is required.
- Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment.
- Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is a Plus.
- Knowledge and experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable.
- You will be part of a Team of Network Technicians and Engineers.
Overview of Duties:
- Handled outage and maintenance tickets servicing more than 20000 users across more than 12 sites since March 2016 through onsite and remote troubleshooting assistance for layer 1 – 3 issues, hardware installations of new and upgraded routers, switches, McAfee intrusion prevention systems, Aruba wireless controllers, Riverbed Steelhead WANX’s, device configurations and reconfigurations, and LAN/WAN outage recovery.
- Troubleshooting outages and resolve network related issues.
- Local element for COMSEC – given briefings on troubleshooting TACLANES, Trained to re-key the TACLANES.
- Install and upgrade network devices and components. This includes switches, routers, and network monitoring devices.
- Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures. Performed escalation and additional tasks as directed.
- Investigated, resolved, documented, and reported the cause and corrective actions in the Incident Management System for all incidents assigned by the Service Desk.

All candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of experience with cisco technologies, including routing protocols, switches, and troubleshooting routers. Daily duties on Piers team:

• Verify/troubleshoot network availability between pier riser positions and ITNs through loopback testing.

• Performs Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning and uploading results to Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM)
• Performs Cybersecurity requirements and implementation of security controls (STIG compliance).
• Configure/Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN for the department of the Navy for over 1,000 users.
• Configure and deploy new network devices in a massive enterprise environment such as, Routers, Multilayer switches, taclanes and layer 2 switches.
• Troubleshoot and maintain load balancing and redundancy throughout a Traditional Hierarchy Network infrastructure.
• Configure, re-Key, upgrade, replace, and troubleshoot TACLANEs within large scale enterprises.
• Configure User authentication for end devices such as MAB and 802.1x.
