Job Summary

Reports to and receive assignments, instructions, and directions from the Facilities supervisor or manager. Lead Locksmith directs a team, schedules, and executes complex commercial/residential security installations, repairs, and master key systems . Functions as the top technical expert, troubleshooting advanced locking hardware, managing access control systems, and ensuring compliance with safety/fire codes. often train staff and manage shop

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Direct, train, and assign work to a crew, while reviewing work for quality and compliance.
  • Technical Expertise: Install, repair, and maintain sophisticated commercial/residential hardware, including high-security cylinders and electronic access control systems.
  • Operations & Planning: Evaluate sites, interpret blueprints, estimate material/labor costs, and manage inventory.
  • Emergency Services: Responding to lockouts, repairing locks after break-ins, and changing locks on-site.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Fitting, servicing, and replacing locks on doors, windows, and vehicles.

  • Security Upgrades: Installing advanced security systems, such as CCTV, access control systems (keypad, swipe card), and high-security safes.
  • Create and maintain records of all key systems and security measures implemented for easy reference and future maintenance.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and building trust.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing locksmith duties to minimize risks.
  • Consultation: Assessing property security and recommending suitable lock systems to clients.


Basic Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification: GSA Certified Safe, Vault Technician certification.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints , Expert knowledge of various lock types, security mechanisms, and key cutting tools.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and work in varied weather for extended periods, and lift heavy items.
  • Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination for handling small, intricate components.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze, diagnose, and fix security issues on the spot.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication skills for interacting with clients during stressful situations
  • 3+ years of experience as a locksmith
  • Experience in maintenance of Cypher locks, LKM10K, X09, X10, ATM and other advanced security safe locks
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of hotel style key card lock systems
  • Ability to lead the Dept. and be able to train and mentor subordinate employees.
  • Must have training in all aspects of repairs, from backdoor deadbolts, installation of locks or modify locks or locking devices.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Must be a U.S Secret Clearance holder/ should be in position to obtain and maintain one.
  • Must possess a U.S passport book (not a passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity and 4 blank visa/stamp pages.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
  • Proficiency in using locksmithing tools and equipment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Work in various environments including outdoors, in workshops, and around heavy machinery.
  • Stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods
  • May require on-call availability for emergencies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with multiple interruptions/distractions.
  • Excellent customer relations, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
