Job Summary
KBR is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to support advanced engineering projects within our Las Cruces, NM facility. In this role, the engineer will lead complex efforts involving ground-based mobile satellite communication systems, antenna manufacturing, RF systems, and power distribution technologies. The Staff Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership across multiple project phases, including design, development, integration, testing, and analysis. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, vendors, customers, and subcontractors. This role plays a key part in guiding project execution to ensure technical rigor, quality compliance, and successful on-time delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead projects in the design, development, integration, and evaluation of electrical systems, products, and components across RF, power, AC/DC circuit, communication, and control applications.
• Oversee engineering analyses, trade studies, and system modeling to validate design integrity, performance, and compliance to technical requirements.
• Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and methods to verify system functionality, documenting performance through comprehensive test reports and engineering records.
• Direct troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for electrical, RF, and power distribution issues within satellite and radio-frequency communication systems.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams by defining engineering tasking, developing schedules, monitoring technical performance, and ensuring adherence to scope and cost objectives.
• Conduct site surveys, field installations, and system integration activities as required to support customer and program needs.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, management, suppliers, and customers throughout all project phases.
• Generate and maintain engineering documentation including design drawings, specifications, procedures, bill of materials, and test data.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, procedures, and AS9100 quality requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in electrical design, RF engineering, or power systems.
• Minimum of 2 years of project leadership experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with valid documentation.
• Must have an active Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in a related Engineering field
• Experience with RF system design, analysis, or testing.
• Experience working with mobile satellite communication systems or related communication system architectures.
• Proficiency interpreting or creating electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, or schematics.
