Who You Are
We are seeking highly motivated auditors to evaluate the financial records, cost structures, and business systems of defense contractors. This role ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and contract requirements while providing recommendations that strengthen internal controls and cost integrity.
The Sub-Contract Auditor specializes in evaluating indirect rates, labor rates, escalation factors, and pricing assumptions used in contractor cost proposals and forward pricing submissions. The position supports fair and reasonable government pricing decisions through detailed financial analysis and audit reporting.
In this dual-role position, you will also serve as a Price Cost Analyst. You will lead complex cost and pricing analyses, drive supplier negotiations, and support customer negotiations. Your insights will directly influence strategic decisions, contract outcomes, and overall company profitability.
What You Will Be Doing
Audit Execution
• Perform risk-based financial and contract audits
• Evaluate cost proposals, forward pricing submissions, and indirect rates
• Review of supplier accounting systems and internal controls
• Audit supplier financial documents and records, including trial balances and general ledger
• Validate cost data against financial records and source documentation
Financial Analysis & Reporting
• Analyze large and complex financial datasets
• Verify the accuracy of supplier's financial statements and cost data
• Perform reconciliations and root cause analysis
• Prepare audit reports and supporting documentation
• Present results for contracting and acquisition stakeholders
Contract Compliance & Advisory Support
• Ensure compliance with federal cost principles and regulations
• Support contract negotiations with cost analysis and recommendations
• Assist in developing government pricing objectives
• Support audit planning and risk assessments
Price Cost Analyst Key Responsibilities
• Conduct detailed cost and price analyses of supplier proposals, including evaluation of labor, material, overhead, and tooling costs
• Develop pricing strategies and recommendations for programs and contracts
• Review and validate supplier cost models and assumptions for accuracy and completeness
• Lead negotiations with suppliers and support prime negotiations with customers to achieve optimal pricing outcomes
• Mentor junior analysts, sharing best practices in cost and price analysis and negotiation techniques
• Prepare reports, charts, and briefings to communicate findings to leadership and stakeholders
• Support long-term supplier strategies, including capture planning and program integration
• Provide guidance on cost drivers and pricing opportunities
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing
• Maintain knowledge of audit standards and government regulations
• Support training and mentoring of junior auditors
• Contribute to audit process and technology improvements

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including auditing coursework. The degree must include at least 120 semester hours in accounting-related subjects such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, and auditing.
• Candidates must have 6+ years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or government contract compliance, including areas such as performance auditing, cost accounting, or financial analysis. Experience must demonstrate leadership in audit engagements, government contracting, cost accounting, forward pricing, or rate modeling.
• Experience should demonstrate the ability to independently manage complex financial tasks, support audit engagements, and contribute to cost or pricing analyses.
• Experience/ability to mentor junior analysts, sharing best practices in cost and price analysis and negotiation techniques
• Must be able to travel to supplier sites on short notice, typically 40-50%, including domestic and occasional overseas assignments. Ability to work extended hours during peak audit periods (on weekends as needed).
• Strong organizational, research, and time management skills with attention to detail, commitment to data accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
