Duties

  • You will apply functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and funding sources efficient to related needs and accomplishments to anticipated or actual dollar figures.
  • You will use commonly used budgetary, accounting, and/or financial administration practices, procedures, regulations, and policies of the organization.
  • You will analyze and interpret source information and applying it to specific areas of work.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-07:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Government Micro purchase Credit Card/Agency Program Coordinator; 2) Transactional accounting or prior year accounting; 3) Time & Attendance Customer Service Representative or timekeeper; 4) Budget execution. This experience must be at least 52 weeks and documented in your resume.

For the GS-09:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assist in the formulation of budget and estimates to support plans, programs and activities; 2) Review and evaluate budget requests, control and reporting of obligations and expenditures; 3) Interpreting development, determination of budgetary policies and practices; 4) Performing studies and/or assisting other with full scale studies; 5) Researches guides to locate accounting, budgetary, and financial information and/or prepares summaries for use by managers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for GS-09: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree; OR an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; OR a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for GS-07: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess one full year of graduate level education; OR a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement; OR a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
