What You'll Be Doing:
- Must be skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform repairs in an efficient and economical manner.
- Shall be knowledgeable in machine and mechanical principles and be able to locate sources of defective operation or cause of breakdown.
- Shall be able to use all hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
- Must have a good knowledge of blueprints and manufacturers' specifications, to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment.
- Shall be able to instruct Machinist/Mechanic Helper when assigned.
- Must qualify to wear a respirator.
- May be required to travel up to 25% to conduct company business.
- Must know all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to environmental protection.
- Assist in the receipt, moor and departure of vessels.
- Adhere to all corporate core values, policies and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
- Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times.
- Must be available to work overtime if required.
- May be exposed to sharp edges, fall hazards, hazardous chemicals and conditions, poor illumination and inclement weather.
- Shall handle weights to 100 pounds with an average of 50 pounds and carry up to a distance of 200 feet.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Five (5) years of relevant ship or industrial mechanic machinist experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and qualify to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of experience serving in a Navy Engineering rating or Armed Forces Diesel Engine Repair Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) .
