Job Title: Senior Strategic Analyst / JSPS & Plans Analyst
Location: Arlington, VA
Overview:
Mano Lani is seeking a Senior Strategic Analyst / JSPS & Plans Analyst to support the National Guard planning and operations. The role focuses on analyzing federal and state-level National Guard activities, evaluating strategic guidance, and producing actionable analytical products for senior leadership. Mano Lani is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cybersecurity, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Research & Analysis: Conduct research and provide written assessments on National Guard equities related to federalization and state support.
- Deliver timely, high-quality products with minimal rework
JSPS and Key Document Assessment: Analyze Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS) guidance, senior leader inputs, and key strategic documents (e.g., National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy, Unified Command Plan, Contingency Planning Guidance, Joint Strategic Campaign Plans, and CCMD Campaign Plans).
- Produce analytical summaries within 2-5 business days.
Comparative Historical Analysis: Evaluate current and prior versions of strategic documents to identify changes and potential operational impacts.
- Deliver concise summary reports in accordance with NGB correspondence standards.
Strategic Contingency & Campaign Plan Support: Participate in working groups, large-scale exercises, and planning events.
- Provide analytical inputs and briefing materials summarizing observations and implications for the National Guard.
Policy & Speech Analysis: Review government speeches, policy statements, and strategic publications.
- Deliver analysis of National Guard implications within defined timelines.
Continuous Document Monitoring: Track updates to strategic documents, inter-agency strategies, and State Integrated Support Plans.
- Provide timely impact assessments and information papers on emergent strategic issues affecting the National Guard.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, National Security, International Relations)
8 - 12 years of experience in strategic research, policy analysis, or related government/military support roles
Strong analytical, written communication, and organizational skills
Ability to synthesize complex documents and provide actionable recommendations
Familiarity with federal and state National Guard operations, DoD strategic planning, and JSPS processes.
