Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes distributing and monitoring staff schedule and/or workload and utilizing an office automation system to prepare reports and resolve discrepancies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Serve as the work leader for Medical Records and Registration Technicians.
- Develop and adjust weekly rotating staff schedules to maintain even workflow.
- Monitor work in progress through spot checks and review to ensure compliance with established procedures, methods, and deadlines.
- Provide on-the-job training, answer task-specific questions, and ensure staff remain current on policies, procedures, and directives.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on medical records management and provide detailed guidance to clinical staff on complex medical record and Privacy Act requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews on scanned medical documentation to verify legibility, correct naming conventions, and proper placement within the Electronic Health Record.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
