Job Description:
ITEC is currently seeking Senior Systems Software Maintenance Engineers that have software engineering experience or equivalent academic background to provide engineering support to maintain high-priority operational systems at a high level of availability and resolve problems based on mission criticality and guidance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs software application maintenance on assigned mission systems running a variety of operating systems (Linux).
- Helps establish requirements for software enhancements and new software and writes that software.
- Detects, isolates, documents, quickly reports, and resolves system outages, or problems encountered during operations of the operational system baseline, which includes the collection of diagnostic data, restoring the system operation, development of workarounds, and other activities necessary for recovery of a system.
- Accurately documents problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
- Analyzes software errors and writes the software to correct those errors.
- Supports system engineering groups for ongoing analysis and integration efforts.
- Works with other maintenance engineers across multiple locations providing maintenance support.
- Frequently communicates with the customer to help establish requirements and schedules.
- Works under pressure in restoring high-priority systems to operations.
Required Skills:
- 4-8 years related experience working with Java on Linux platforms.
- Skilled in Jenkins
- Experience with Docker containerization
- Must have a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level I (minimum) Certification or must obtain the certification within first 60 days of employment.
- Must have the ability or experience in evaluating LINUX log files and assess error conditions.
- Must have the ability or experience modifying LINUX scripts and configuration files.
- Must have the ability or experience troubleshooting software issues on Solaris and/or Linux platforms.
- Must have the ability to identify and isolate discrepancies to software, hardware, database, scripts or configurations.
- Must have the ability or experience modifying or creating configuration-controlled software, test changes to verify requirements, and install builds in a controlled operational environment.
- Requires good communication skills for the effective and accurate exchange of information across a multi-location enterprise, with customer visibility into maintainer-based actions and response.
- Requires ability to multitask in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.
Desired Certification:
Current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification.
