The Engineer is responsible for planning, evaluating the technical quality assurance and testing of the shipboard Navigation systems to include the Ship's Nav data, AN/WSN-7(V) Ring Laser Gyro Navigator (RLGN), GPS, Global Positioning system-Based Positioning, Navigation & Timing Service (GPNTS), Voice & Satellite communications with collateral Exterior Communication (EXCOM) responsibilities at times (HF, UHF, and VHF radios; Link 4, 11, 16 terminals; SATCOM equipment). The individual will have cryptographic responsibilities. Handling Key-mat / receipt/loading/inventory and destruction of it for the Exterior Communication (EXCOM) system as needed during Aegis Combat System testing and Aegis Weapons System testing.
This will be a Sr. Engineer position interacting directly with customer/s, leading resolutions to emergent issues and the LM POC or LM backup POC for the LM employees in the EXCOM group.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience on NAVY surface vessels working in the Navigational and/or EXCOM work-centers, preferably AEGIS.
• Knowledge of interface protocols, system design criteria, equipment interactions, major signal flows, and USN Shipbuilding Specifications.
• Proficient with reading production drawings.
• Some travel may be required
• Work will be conducted at Naval bases, shipyards, and other facilities. The ability to work in an industrial environment and shipboard where access if often by stairs, ladders, and in confined spaces, is required.
• Occasionally underway shipboard support may be required underway for up to one week at a time.
* US Citizenship is required. You must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position.
