THE WORK
The Systems Engineer role is critical to delivering reliable, mission ready shipboard combat system solutions for the U.S. Navy.
In this role you will:
• Maintain shipboard operations, and procedures.
• Manage daily customer communications and participate in Sea Trial activities such as Pre-Trial Assessments, Trial Card writing, act as a counterpart with NAVY Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), conduct Trial Card screening, testing and open/inspections of equipment.
• Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains solutions for the integration and testing of the SPQ-9. SPQ-15 and CEC Systems..
• Meets customer needs and requirements with comprehensive test solutions for the SPQ-9, SPQ-15, and CEC systems, while respecting technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, resolves hardware/software interface challenges, and defines precise input/output parameters. Ensures seamless integration of each system-and their respective subsystems-into the overarching architecture, delivering reliable, fully verified solutions that meet both performance and contractual obligations.
• Directs the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for SPQ-9, SPQ-15, and CEC systems and their associated subsystems, ensuring that all verification activities are aligned with technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Coordinates testing activities for the SPQ 9, SPQ 15, and CEC systems with customers, shipyard, and all relevant organizations. Analyzes test results and prepares comprehensive evaluation reports that verify and validate system performance against contractual and technical requirements.
• Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems and systems.

Basic Qualifications:
• Must be able to read and interpret multiple kinds of drawings and schematics (piping, ventilation, electrical)
• Familiar with operating and troubleshooting of CEC, SPQ-15, SPQ-9 systems.
• Position requires shift work, possible brief at-sea periods and possible 2 month TDY Assignments, then occasional travel supporting fleet emergent requirements. Travel may be required to USN waterfront domestic and international locations.
• Position requires frequent work in shipyard industrial environments as well as on naval vessels, both underway and in port.
• Requires the ability to traverse steep ladders and stairs, as well as working in confined spaces, is a requirement.
• Travel required in support of AEGIS availabilities conducted at locations outside Bath.
• 25-35% travel can be expected.
• Interim Secret is required Prior to Start; Active Secret Clearance is preferred
Desired Skills:
• Good communications skills, both verbal and written, with good technical writing skill set
• Good troubleshooting ability, good customer service skills and good decision making
• Applicant may have experience with either AEGIS Guided Missile Cruiser, and/or AEGIS Destroyer shipboard installations
• Familiarity with equipment receipt inspection, and modification Quality Assurance requirements, processes, and documentation
• Familiarity with AEGIS combat system equipment installation and design requirements
• Candidate should possess strong personal computing skills to include experience with Microsoft Office applications
